Stockbridge Library

This is the first renovation that the Stockbridge Library has undergone since 1937, when the Bement Wing was added 77 years ago. The renovation of the building added 2,437 square feet to the existing 10,310 square foot structure, which included the installation of new study rooms and a multipurpose program center that expanded the display and storage space for the Museum & Archives.

Facility upgrades throughout the library provide a comfortable and energy efficient space to promote usability for all patrons to meet, learn and connect. New lighting, comfortable seating, and other furnishings contribute to the welcoming atmosphere and character of the library. Antiquated mechanical systems have been replaced to make the building more energy efficient. An elevator and new restrooms have been installed to provide access for all visitors.

Changes to the library’s exterior have been designed to complement the historic nature of the building. The renovations maintained the footprint and façade, with no substantial change to the costs of operations and maintenance.
