Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Performance Space

Pioneer Valley Performing Arts in Western Massachusetts is one of the oldest charter schools in the region. It is the first regional charter school to dedicate its curriculum to the performing arts, with high praise for its outstanding theater and visual arts concentrations. The school has a student body of ~400, and hosts about 20 performances every year.

The 7,500 sq ft addition is a pre-engineered metal building structure with insulated metal wall panels. The space includes a lobby, storage room, and a multipurpose room performance space with a 7 –level platform seating area and a performance stage. The old theater was renovated to include 2 accessible bathrooms that serve the new theater and the remaining space was converted into a classroom. The stage, platform seating area, lobby, and bathrooms are made handicap accessible by an interior ramp and a wheel chair lift.

The multipurpose room was built to accommodate the whole student body, and serves as a perfectly flexible space that can be converted from a classroom into a formal showcase.
