Progress Report: Naumkeag Phase 1 Site Infrastructure
May 29, 2013

This spring, Allegrone was hired by The Trustees of Reservations to act as construction manager for the 1st of 5 phases of work on the Historic Stockbridge Landmark, Naumkeag.
The widely known gardens and water features of Naumkeag, where re-designed and added to by Fletcher Steele, between the years of 1926 and 1955. These gardens are being replanted and shaped as part of this initial phase, as well as being re-fed with a new underground water and drainage infrastructure. Due to the drastic grade changes on the property, all of the seasonal landscape irrigation water and feature supplies are gravity fed from the original Deposito, located on the high northeastern side of the property.
Phase 1 masonry repairs include restoration of the Linden Allee Fountain, The Great Seat, the Brick Runnel, The Blue Steps, and the Evergreen Garden. Phase 1 of 5 is to be completed by June for the visitor season, culminating with the Blue Steps 75th Anniversary celebration on July 20th.
