Pittsfield’s New Homeless Resource Center Nears Completion

August 26, 2025

A new day-use resource center for individuals experiencing homelessness is set to open this fall in Pittsfield. Located in the Zion Lutheran Church, The First will offer essential services such as showers, laundry, phone charging stations, and a welcoming lounge space. The second floor will feature nine permanent supportive housing units designed to help individuals transition out of homelessness.

Led by Hearthway Inc. in collaboration with the City of Pittsfield and ServiceNet, the project reflects a strong community commitment to addressing housing insecurity. Allegrone Companies served as the general contractor for the renovation, helping transform the church into a safe and supportive environment.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand affordable housing in Pittsfield, with three supportive housing projects currently underway.
