Pittsfield Welcomes New Apartments and Housing Resource Center to Combat Homelessness
December 15, 2025
Pittsfield celebrates the completion of a major $16 million housing initiative that includes the construction of 37 new permanent supportive studio apartments alongside a new housing resource center.
Developed over four years through collaboration between Allegrone Co., Hearthway Inc., the city government, state officials, and community partners, the project comprises 28 studio units on West Housatonic Street and 9 units within Zion Lutheran Church. The contiguous housing resource center, located in the church’s lower level, will offer essential services such as a commercial kitchen, laundry facilities, showers, secure storage, and wraparound support to individuals experiencing homelessness. ServiceNet, a local agency, will operate the facility.
The initiative, which secured funding—including $6.5 million through Pittsfield’s ARPA allocation and private fundraising—marks a significant commitment to providing long-term housing over temporary shelter, aiming to strengthen community well-being and dignity.
