Cassilis Farm Housing Project Construction Begins
October 30, 2026
This week, Allegrone Companies joins Construct and community members in the commencement of the construction phase of the Cassilis Farm housing development in New Marlborough. The project will restore the Gilded Age mansion into 11 affordable housing apartments while preserving its historic character.
The redevelopment follows extensive planning, permitting, environmental remediation, and stabilization efforts required to address asbestos, oil contamination, and years of deferred maintenance. With construction now underway, the initial phase will focus on installing a new well system, followed by building envelope improvements including windows, doors, insulation, and fire protection systems. Interior renovations will then proceed, with project completion anticipated by the end of 2027.
Allegrone is proud to partner with Joey Lindstrom, Construct Inc., the Town of New Marlborough, and state officials to preserve this historic property while creating much-needed affordable housing opportunities. The project demonstrates how collaboration between public, nonprofit, and construction partners can revitalize historic buildings and strengthen rural communities throughout the Berkshires.
