The Allegrone Companies – Building through Four Generations

Community

Berkshire County is a hidden jewel of Western Massachusetts. Protected by two small mountain ranges (the Hoosac and the Taconic) the lush landscape has beckoned visitors for thousands of years.

The Berkshires terrain blends tranquil valleys, charming villages, and soaring peaks. (Including Mount Greylock, the highest peak in Massachusetts.) This harmonious contrast is mirrored in the region's diverse history of settlers: Ancient Native American tribes, 17th century farming and industrial immigrants, Gilded Age elite and renowned 20th century creative personalities such as Norman Rockwell and Henry David Thoreau.

Today, the Berkshires are a celebration of old meets new. Visitors have a myriad of options while enjoying their stay. Early 1900s mansions are restored to their original grandeur and open to the public for lodging, dining, and more. In addition to historical landmarks, performance venues such as Tanglewood (summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra) and museums like the MASS MoCA (the country's largest contemporary art center) add to the region's unique appeal.

Golfing, hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, kayaking the list of outdoor sports is endless. Antique stores and specialty shops can be found around every turn, as can small cafes to unwind and reflect on the days events.

“I’ve done several major renovations with Allegrone, so I‘ve gotten to know the people on the Allegrone team. They‘re easy to work with. The quality of work and craftsmanship is excellent. When an unknown arises, Allegrone comes up with good solutions and we talk it over.” - Ron Spring, VP Facilities/Purchasing, Berkshire Bank
