Groundbreaking of Agawam Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community

October 3, 2016

Soldier On

We are proud and excited to work with Solider On in transforming Agawam's historic Police Academy into 51 housing units for homeless veterans!

Homeless veterans will be able to live and contribute to the community when nonprofit organization Soldier On opens its new $24 million Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community some time by the end of the summer of 2017.

Today city officials, local representatives, executives from Solider On, and contributing partners for the project broke ground at the site of the former Western Massachusetts Regional Police Academy. The project is set to transform this historic building into permanent housing for Veterans.

The speakers and high-profile attendees at the ceremony included: Girard "Jerry" Sargent of Citizens Bank, Bruce Buckley of Soldier On, Agawam City Councilor George Bitzas, Bruce Sorota of Stratford Capital Group, Mayor Richard Cohen, Agawam City Councilor Robert Rossi, State Representative Nicholas Boldyga, and State Senator Don Humason.
