Description

The Estimator position reports to the Chief Estimator.  Job duties include the preparation of hard bids for public/private commercial, institutional and multi-family new construction and renovation projects for projects that can range in size from $250 k to $10 million plus.

Qualifications

What you’ll be doing…

• Prepare hard bids and budgets for general construction projects generally ranging in cost from

$250,000 to 10,000,000 plus.

• Attend pre-bid meetings

• Review project plans and specifications..

• Solicit subcontractor bids for assigned projects. Obtain 3-5 bids for each trade and supplier group. Review and analyze bids for conformance to project specifications, price, and related items. Discuss and resolve any questions with subcontractor prior to submission of final estimate.

• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs utilizing Excel spreadsheet.

• Determine labor, material and equipment costs.

• Attend client meetings to discuss estimates, answering any questions and resolving any issues regarding pricing and estimates.

• Review quotes and estimates with the Project Management Team.

• Perform certain post-bid buyouts.

• Support the field as required by assisting in drawing review, scope review and preparation of change requests

• Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.

• Conduct cost analysis at completion of project.

 

What you bring to the table...

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or field experience.

• A minimum of 12 years construction experience inclusive of 3 years of hard-bid estimating of public/private commercial, institutional and multifamily new construction and renovation projects as Senior Estimator.. Field experience a plus.

• Experienced estimating selective demolition work, wood framing, light gauge framing, wood siding, standing and running trim.

• Strong knowledge of construction techniques, and means & methods.

• Successful candidate must possess a high degree of self-motivation, strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail; and be able to work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
